7 Times We Spotted the Iconic Eames Lounge Chair on TV

We may have been binge-watching TV over the past few months, like many of you, but we soon picked up on a pattern in our favourite shows: Herman Miller furniture is everywhere on the screen!

The Eames Lounge chair, one of the most sought-after designs by Charles and Ray Eames, was prominently featured in American history, and the Library of Congress has conserved and restored old videos that will help keep the heritage of this and other Eames innovations alive for many years to come.

Even though this lounge chair was first introduced in 1956, it is still frequently mentioned in the media today. See how often this amazing chair appears in TV episodes and movies that you may not have known about (even one appearance doesn't quite count; continue reading to learn why! ):

Archer

The Eames Lounge chair can be found in Mallory Archer's (Jessica Walter) desk if you look attentively. On the first episode of this 1960s-era show, she is seen sitting in this traditional black leather chair at the intelligence agency.

In subsequent episodes, an Eames Lounge may also be seen briefly in the condo owned by Charles and Rudy in Miami, Florida, as well as in Len Trexler's (Jeffrey Tambor) office, the leader of ODIN (below).

Even in an animated programme, you can easily identify an Eames Lounge thanks to its distinctive design and the creative attention to detail in this programme.

Frasier

A notable Eames Lounge chair was featured in Dr. Frasier Crane's (Kelsey Grammar) living room in one of Kelsey Grammar's most well-known sitcoms, Frasier, which ran for 11 seasons.

Shark Tank

The Eames Lounge chair has been prominently shown in every episode since the show's debut in 2009 as the Sharks settle in and get ready to hear pitches and proposals. The colour scheme of this specific exhibit is one thing that sets it apart from others: lovely pearl leather with white ash wood, as opposed to the more typical black leather and walnut wood seen more regularly in other displays.

An excellent option for imposing corporate leaders who value luxury, elegance, and the ability to recognise a good business opportunity!

Gossip Girl

Dan Humphrey (Penn Badgley) finds himself at Lily's home office, which is where the distinctive Eames Lounge called XOXO, which has been reupholstered in a Missoni-style fabric, distinguishes itself from the rest.

However, the instantly identifiable form is a symbol of taste and reflects the haute-couture way of life that shines in its surroundings.

Iron Man

It's interesting to note that just one of the two Eames Lounge chairs seen in this 2008 movie is actual. A classic Eames Lounge chair in black leather and walnut wood can be immediately found on Tony Stark's (Robert Downey Jr.) main level of his cliffside California mansion, though Stark's garage downstairs takes us to a replica with the same arms as the chair in YOU, seen below:

YOU

Another Penn Badgley television programme, another Eames lounge chair! However, there's a solid reason why we can only offer this binge-worthy smash honourable mention: the Eames Lounge chair shown in the programme is actually a replica!

The form of the armrests is one of the clear clues that the chair Dr. Nicky (John Stamos) is sitting in isn't exactly from the Herman Miller factory.

Curved, plush arms that meet the chair's seat are a hallmark of an original Herman Miller Eames Lounge chair. Despite their best efforts, these small, tightly-wrapped pedestal arms are unable to secure a spot on our list.

Lincoln Lawyer

This 2011 suspense film starring Matthew McConaughey features a vintage Eames Lounge in Mick Haller's study, however it is only briefly visible.

Honourable Mention: Mad Men

Despite the fact that the acclaimed television series Mad Men doesn't have an Eames Lounge chair, we felt compelled to highlight its unmatched attention to detail and inclusion of other Eames classics.

In the conference room, the Eames Aluminium Group Management Chair frequently appears with the Eames Executive Chair (or Lobby Chair, above) as follows:

The Matrix Resurrections

The classic Matrix middle ground known as the Construct is where Neo and Morpheus find themselves once again in the most recent episode of the well-loved Matrix series.

Featuring a glaring improvement in seating this time around, the space is a blank expanse of boundless opportunity.
